John De Coninck

John was until October 2003 the director of CDRN. He has a professional experience dating 30 years, much of it acquired in Uganda, working for Makerere University, ACORD, then for a variety of international organisations (as a consultant) and, from 1994, for CDRN. He is currently undertaking freelance consultancy work, writing, and still working part-time at CDRN as part of long-term handover process to his successor as Director.

John has been involved in the development and implementation of a number of initiatives involving CSOs in policy development, strategy reviews, participatory planning, monitoring and evaluation, and research on wider civil society issues. He has published materials in a number of areas related to Civil Society development in the region.

During his years at CDRN, John has provided methodological support to colleagues and to partner organisations. He has also been actively involved in a number of research initiatives on poverty reduction policy. He holds a PhD from Sussex University in the UK. Back to team
